HGI Case Study – Costco Warehouse Fire South Florida
HGI Industries has created cutting edge ultra violet hydroxyl generating technology which has been at the forefront of high volume odor processing, air-decontamination and air-purification. HGI’s patented technology is the world’s only scientifically proven non-contained Hydroxyl Generator. The ODOROX® products line of non-chemical devices provides an environmentally safe solution.
A fire broke out in a 7,000,000 cu. ft. consumer wholesale warehouse, caused by an electrical short in a floral refrigerator. Seventy five firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. Heavy smoke damage was incurred and it was anticipated all the warehouse products would have to be replaced and the warehouse would be closed for 30 days.
Smoke and Restoration Solution
With HGI’s manufacturing facility in close proximity dozens of Boss XL3’s with Air Movers and Decon models were dispatched to the Restoration crews. The odor was completely eliminated by the HGI hydroxyl technology in three days straight in 24 restoration shifts. The machines were strategically placed throughout the facility along the perimeter walls and throughout the aisles and corridors.
The warehouse was able to open in 3 days and avoided estimated losses of $1 million dollars a day. The installed Odorox equipment removed all the odor and smoke residue from the inventory and the entire inventory was sold as new, avoiding an expected loss of $34 million dollars.
The effectiveness of the Odorox technology jump started HGI to become a leader in the restoration marketplace. This in turn led to national exposure and distribution opportunities. Cost effective treatment of fires and smoke damage without any ill effects to inventory or merchandise led to a full endorsement by insurance companies and agencies throughout the country.
